We are building the horse game you always wanted!
We have just started the development on a horse ranch management game based on the popular concepts of Virtual Horse Ranch. This new game will be available on most platforms via a web browser, and as an app for tablets (Android & IOS). Some of the initial features will include:
- Each player will own a beautiful ranch, with multiple realistic and unique; virtual horses.
- Horses will have multiple stats that determine their success in training, eventing, or just riding round for fun. Some of these stats for each horse will include Strength, Intelligence, Endurance, Speed, Agility and Willpower. There will be numerous colors and patterns! Read below about one of our stretch goals.
- We plan on launching with at least 100 different popular breeds. Each breed will have its own qualities and characteristics to make them unique. For example, an Arabian will have high Endurance, but might be light on the willpower (Arabian owners will understand!). Possible colors may also be determined by breed, such as Friesian horses will be in shades of black.
- Training: Train your horse in multiple disciplines from Racing to Dressage. Training will improve stats, and the horse’s skill ability in the particular discipline.
- Breeding: Work on improving your horses’ bloodlines through our artificial genetic algorithm. Offer your quality stud up for service to other players!
- Competing: Compete in several different event types such as Racing, Endurance Racing, Dressage, Show Jumping & Western Events.
- Clubs: Join or create a club with like-minded players and friends. Set your on goals and parameters for the clubs. For example: “Alpha Racing Breeders Club” and set your requirements for whom can join.
- Marketplace: Work with other players by buying, breeding, selling your horses to improve your stock. This might be a stretch goal, but we would like to have an auction-like area (map) specifically for going and selling your horses to other players.
- Player- you- the Ranch Manager will gain experience and levels to improve build up your own skill tree- for example: breeding faster horses or more efficient in Show Jumping training.
- Bring your horse along trails, new maps, and through courses such as jump courses.
We will be starting a Kickstarter campaign in a few weeks! Depending on funding and your support, we also wish to offer these additional features:
- “Layers” (like socks, color, a blaze) on horses to create thousands of different skin types generated based off of parents & genetics.
- Riding w/ an avatar: Ride your virtual horses with friends, race them on trails and play around in club events.
- Additional horse animations, barns, decorations, and items!
- Customize your ranch- place your choice of buildings, items, fencing, and everything where you wish.
- Train your horses over courses based on related disciplines in mini-games, we will still have simulated options.
- Compete your horses by completing a course, also with simulated options.
- Complete “goals” which are similar to quests in some games, like riding a course of jumps flawlessly, or finding a hidden area on a trail ride.
What are your ideas? Comment below!
September 3, 2014 at 9:54 pm
Omg this is so exciting! Will custom colors and breeds be available at some point as well?
September 3, 2014 at 10:06 pm
Hey there! Yes, for starters on our future kickstarter campaign coming up in a few weeks. Each “custom color” means a new texture design for the horse, and thus they will be pricey. But you could send in a photo of your horse, favorite horse, or a drawing, and we will try to make it exact.
September 9, 2014 at 9:34 pm
What do you mean by campaign? Does a “campaign” mean it will be released in a couple weeks?
September 10, 2014 at 3:35 am
By campaign, I mean our Kickstarter campaign that will happen in less than a few weeks to make this all possible. The project is in initial development right now, counting on your support to make it come to fruition on how we imagined. Thanks!
September 10, 2014 at 11:41 pm
Ohhhh okay! Thanks
September 11, 2014 at 3:42 am
Really that is so cool ,how much
September 21, 2014 at 10:10 pm
Hello Nef, i was wondering wether i will receive and email from you when the game is out? And will it be available on app store for my ipad mini?
September 21, 2014 at 10:52 pm
Yes, and more emails before that time, unless you unsubscribe 🙂
October 4, 2014 at 1:13 am
hey! umm i’m really excited about this new game but when does it come out so we can play it? And what is the campaign? Thanks! 🙂
October 4, 2014 at 6:29 pm
Hey there- We will launch in the spring of 2015. I believe you are referring to our Kickstarter Campaign? That will be starting up very soon- to get familiar with Kickstarter, you can visit this link: https://www.kickstarter.com/hello?ref=footer . Thanks!
November 17, 2014 at 9:40 pm
When will it come out!!!!! I really wanna play!
November 17, 2014 at 9:44 pm
Thank you! We want to play it too! We will be working as hard as we can on it. I can’t promise a release date yet, but make sure you sign up to our mailing list so you can stay in touch.
October 12, 2015 at 6:35 pm
How i can be in the mailing list?
October 15, 2015 at 4:22 pm
Upper right of right menu
September 13, 2014 at 1:19 am
Do you have to pay for the game?
September 13, 2014 at 1:24 am
Nope you do not have to pay to play 🙂
December 4, 2014 at 4:29 am
(Removed by Nef- Sorry- removed post, please don’t ask for personal information here, thanks!)
September 3, 2014 at 11:12 pm
Will this be in addition to the regular Virtual Horse Ranch?
September 4, 2014 at 1:36 am
Yep, in addition! Not forcing anyone to convert to new game, data will remain separate.
September 3, 2014 at 11:22 pm
This will looks like it will be awesome!
September 3, 2014 at 11:26 pm
This is very exciting!
I’m assuming it’s downloadable only for tablets/phones/etc. What will the price be for downloading the game?
I can’t wait for this! 😀
September 4, 2014 at 1:35 am
It will always have free to play options, like VHR. No price for installing on tablet etc.. and via apple store/google play you will be able to purchase “Orbs” … tokens… to get more upgrades and other stuff.
December 27, 2014 at 6:12 pm
Will I be able to play on my iphone?
December 27, 2014 at 6:44 pm
At launch, we will have an iOS app for tablets like ipad but it will not be optimized for phones, they may not be able to handle it. Eventually we could build a simplified app for phones!
September 3, 2014 at 11:30 pm
Get it Nef! This sounds awesome!
September 4, 2014 at 1:59 am
This may just bring me back to the game. Sounds exciting.
September 4, 2014 at 4:43 am
It is something I would definitely give a fair trial…just this oldie might not have the head for the 3D action (I’m rather horrible with Playstation/Nintendo games).
September 4, 2014 at 5:00 am
Thank you, I wouldn’t worry! If we have anything that requires hand eye coordination (like mini games) we will have a simulated option as well.
September 4, 2014 at 6:33 am
This is exciting! I’ve complained (to RL friends) that it’s hard to play VHR on my tablet, but now, I won’t have to! Go Nef!
September 4, 2014 at 8:42 am
Just hoping this doesn’t mean an ignored ‘regular’ VHR, as I already know that I prefer it to 3D games and always have… not to mention not having the funds, because of owed vet bills, to start a new game, but have already invested a great deal in the VHR that I always loved.
September 4, 2014 at 4:37 pm
VHR won’t be ignored. VHR3D will bring in resources for extra attention to VHR, also bringing others whom are made aware of the webgame and might prefer it as well. I think VHR also offers something that is hard to achieve in a game like VHR3D- a better outlet for artistic creativity, so VHR will always be there for them.
September 5, 2014 at 7:29 am
Will it be similar to VHR2? When that went down I pretty much gave up on VHR 🙁 I still sign in every so often though
September 6, 2014 at 3:41 pm
Yes, but much better/easier to use and better UI. Also don’t have to download and install it to PC, available via web browser.
September 6, 2014 at 9:04 pm
Excellent concept. There’s always room for more top-quality horsey games. Can’t wait to download it!
September 6, 2014 at 11:57 pm
Oh my god! Thank you so much for developing this game! I am a HUGE horse lover and I would love to play! My opinion is that you do make it! It sounds like it will be awesome, and I would play every single day!
Thank you for emailing me about this!
September 6, 2014 at 11:58 pm
Will existing VHR players have the ability to transfer their account/details to VHR3D, or do we completely start from the beginning?
September 7, 2014 at 12:28 am
Start over… it is a new game. We will have rewards for existing players.
September 7, 2014 at 12:59 am
Can’t wait for this! I used to play the first VHR 3D / VHR2 game all the time.. why was it suddenly unavailable to play any more? D:
September 7, 2014 at 2:21 am
This sounds like a great game!! Virtual Horse Ranch 3D has exciting goals for their game. Plus, Virtual Horse Ranch 3D will be available on your computer, ios, and android! I believe this game will be a big hit! I can’t wait!!
September 7, 2014 at 4:55 am
I remember there used to be a VHR3D..and suddenly one day it shut down..too this day I still miss it…even though the graphics were blah and the horses moonwalked around the place.
But looks like it’s making a comeback and is even better then before, sounds like it could be one of the best online horse games of all time.
Move over SSO here comes VHR3D. Thank you Orbis Games,it is about time horse gamers got taken seriously and get a realistic 3d game thats not dumbed down and childish *cough cough* Star Stable *cough cough* most of the time older teenage/adult players are stuck with clicking webpage games.
My horsey gaming prayers are answered.
Will this game have a membership system? Or can we buy extras in game? After all running a game is not free,I won’t mind dishing real money into this..but I think my bank account will hate me.
September 7, 2014 at 5:08 am
Yes! Thank you! As a gamer horse fan- you nailed my thoughts exactly. I go searching horse games on Facebook because I need my fix too, and am utterly disappointed with simple stuff not built for our interests. Your questions- Yes it will have a membership system and yes you can buy extras. We will still have free to play options as always, will never be forced to pay. Keep an eye out for our Kickstarter announcement email! If you need to put your real life horse in game, for example, you will be able to do that via our future Kickstarter campaign (that will be pricey though, but more cheaper than when game is actually out).
September 7, 2014 at 9:13 am
OMG I can not wait for this to open so looking forward to it!
September 7, 2014 at 5:18 pm
ci sarà anche in italiano? spero proprio di si!!! perché mi sembra davvero un grande e bellissimo gioco!!!
Translation:
there will be also in Italian? I hope so!!! because it seems to me a great and fantastic game!!!
sorry for the translation but I’m Italian!!!
September 7, 2014 at 6:36 pm
We would love to add in localization for several languages- but might not be available immediately. We will put it down as a stretch goal and try- keeping Italian in mind!
September 7, 2014 at 6:59 pm
Can’t wait for the release! I will happily donate to the growth of the app. This is amazing after years and years of playing VHR.
September 7, 2014 at 7:39 pm
Sounds exciting (: Can’t wait to see it!
September 7, 2014 at 9:48 pm
May I suggest that in the game, make players allowed to ride a horse around freely? Like let them go ride freely in places like the park? I suppose sort of like the graphics World of Warcraft contains? I really enjoy just getting to walk around riding some animal and just exploring! But of course none of the violence that parents might disprove of. I suppose a little bit like the game Animal Jam? Perhaps you could make it possible for people to trade money and different accessories with other players for their items?
Could you also please don’t make it for download only? Will we be able to play on a computer? Please make there be non-member options if there is payment required to enjoy more things in the game.
September 7, 2014 at 10:17 pm
Love the suggestions. There will be open world trails and areas for you to run your horse around- but read out stretch goal section on having human avatars. You will be able to play the game in your web browser, and on tablets as well. We may have a stand alone client (downloadable) for any linux users as an option as well. There will always be free to play options 🙂
September 8, 2014 at 5:57 am
This sounds awesome! Must admit, this has got my full support due to the gorgeous pictures at the top. But can you make the animations look realistic instead of cartoon-y? *cough Star Stable cough*
September 8, 2014 at 3:54 pm
Indeed, the animations look a little funky when only one screen shot is taken. They do look quite well in action- done by serious animators 🙂
September 9, 2014 at 8:29 pm
lol cough star stable cough lol I love star stables!
September 20, 2014 at 9:32 pm
ME TOO LOVE THAT GAME 🙂
September 9, 2014 at 7:38 am
Is it possible to create a tackshop where you can buy different types of bits, bridles, saddles, boots, blankets and so on? I know it’s kind of nerdy hehe, but I find it fun and no other virtual horse game offers that. And that the tack appears on your horse in the stable. Like for example: I buy a snaffle bit, a bridle with Aachen, a jump saddle, a martingal and boots. Like you customize your horses’ tack!
September 9, 2014 at 4:52 pm
Everything we do over here is nerdy 🙂 This is an interesting idea and I like it- and thank you for sharing it- We will see what is possible!
November 1, 2014 at 10:24 pm
Yes please! I’d love to have specific details like that.. Snaffle Bridle w/ Noseband or Flash Noseband– Crank Style Bridle with Double Reins— Bell boots with Open Front Boots or no Open Front Boots. A variety to mix and match realistically! Maybe horses can have their stats increased by using the appropriate bit on them?
Example:
Strong leader-like horse would use a Pelham bit.
Submissive, lazy horse would use a simple Eggbutt Snaffle.
etc.
September 11, 2014 at 7:03 am
Huehuehue, can’t wait! I absolutely LOVE 3D horse games like Horse Isle and Star Stable!!!!!!
September 17, 2014 at 12:17 pm
Your name… SO KAWAIII!! I just started watching the anime and loved it :3 sorry some off-topic
September 11, 2014 at 10:36 am
Sounds like great fun! As long as the prices aren’t ridiculous, I would love to play! Please email me when it is finished!
September 11, 2014 at 12:21 pm
Hey, I was wondering if this will be available for the App Store? I have an iPad and was hoping for this game to be accessible on my device, will it be?
Thanks,
-Ash
September 11, 2014 at 2:11 pm
Yes it sure will be!
September 11, 2014 at 2:43 pm
Would really like a game that doesn’t require the following:
a) more than a couple of hours of day to play it
b) masses of “click-click-clicking” with the mouse because some of us have tendinitis in our hands/wrists/arms
c) being absolutely tied into having friends to complete every tasks and/or progress in the game. Not all gaming friends are consistent players and it gets exceptionally annoying when you have to keep hunting for players who game regularly just so you can get things done.
d) having to use oodles of REAL world money to get ahead in the game. I realize this is partially how on-line gaming companies pay for their games but some people don’t have a lot of cash to meet their real life expenses. Having to constantly buy stuff to play really puts a dent in enjoying the game.
e) please don’t introduce unicorns and pegasi. If a breed of horse comes in only one colour (Friesens are always black), then that’s how they should appear. Towards the end Horse Saga had horses that looked “green”!
f) And finally, it would be nice to be able to transfer game cash and special gifts to gaming friends to help them out when they’re stuck.
September 11, 2014 at 3:51 pm
Also, the horses should only be able to perform the duties applicable to their breed. No racing draft horses against thoroughbreds. No jumping of ponies against horses. It’s just a tad silly.
September 11, 2014 at 5:18 pm
Of course, we will stay true to VHR in this way. Breeds have their attributes, and that effects the way the horse comes out. It will likely be impossible to get a Clydesdale faster than a TB.
September 11, 2014 at 5:17 pm
Hey-you nailed a lot of good points, sounds like you know my laundry list of things that upset me about a lot of social games (ESPECIALLY C)! I love your list here. What I think this game offers is something unique- since the horses are essentially “Characters” like in an rpg. So if you want to spend only an hour a day to make a few really good horses, and get everything set up for the next day, then you will be able to do that and still might have a #1 horse- hopefully possible with out spending a penny. If you want to spend 20 hours a day and have many many horses, you can do that. I’m one of those hoarders….
September 11, 2014 at 4:13 pm
It sounds awesome and I would love to be able to play. Please consider an app for Kindle too please?
September 11, 2014 at 5:20 pm
I’ll look in to that!
September 11, 2014 at 5:36 pm
This is a total dream come true!! I have been searching for these types of games!! With you get to pet your horse? 😀 can you connect with friends near you? OMG I LOVE THIS GAME ALREADY!!! I will play it all day and night, and I’m gonna give it a 5 star ranking!!! <3 thank you for making this happen!!!
September 11, 2014 at 5:37 pm
And when will this be out?
September 11, 2014 at 5:38 pm
I’m very sorry for all of the questions but how will we be able to send you a type of horse so you can make it into a virtual one?
September 11, 2014 at 5:47 pm
Last one 😀 can you also please make it like when your riding the horse for a trail of competition, that it’s in the riders perspective, like you can see the horses neck and ears as if you were actually riding it. 🙂 <3
September 11, 2014 at 7:19 pm
Yes…and no problem for the questions. For a price that will be available on our Kickstarter campaign coming soon 🙂 Check back in an hour and I should have a lil video up of some raw footage of horses… very raw, but cool.
September 11, 2014 at 7:20 pm
Actual official release depends on how much funding we get and how much we can do. At a minimum- probably around Jan 2015. We’ll try and let you get some preview play in sooner!
September 11, 2014 at 7:33 pm
Oh so not in like a year or so but I’m still very exited!!
September 11, 2014 at 7:14 pm
THIS LOOKS AMAZING! I have been waiting for a game like this to come out! I cant wait! I will buy it, whether its free or 10 dollars 😀
September 11, 2014 at 9:18 pm
OMG!! I have always dreamed of a game like this, tell me… is this game for free, or do you have to download it? :-/
September 11, 2014 at 9:53 pm
You can play it in your web browser (for free) or download the App for a tablet. We will always have free to play options.
September 11, 2014 at 9:25 pm
When will it start?
September 11, 2014 at 9:51 pm
Our Kickstarter campaign hopefully begins in just over a week- we hope to have something playable by end of year/early 2015. Everything depends on funding and if we can do everything we want to do.
September 11, 2014 at 10:35 pm
It’d be cool if you could make it kind of like Star Stable. But I don’t think that you can play that on a device. Just a desktop computer. I love Star Stable, but I’m not able to pay for the special and extra things that take real money.
September 11, 2014 at 11:49 pm
Nef, Sounds good! This should be fun! I’m looking forward to seeing this new game in action and participating from the very start!
The only thing I can think of at this moment that has been an issue for players like myself…., PlayCash. When you are a breeder/ trainer, the money goes faster then it can come in. How about making it possible to buy playcash in bundles ( from 100000 to 50 mil) for real money? It would be something that would be available in the store of upgrades.
If allowing for people to get too much playcash is a concern…., then perhaps allow only 1 purchase per month, per account?
Please consider this?
ALso… you mentioned “masks” for markings and such. If it’s going to be possible for folks to have a personalized breed…, can people also design their own coats/dyes that would go with their PBs? Perhaps they could also be done with masks.? Or a person could design and send their pattens/blanket/design/colour and it be applied by mask or other means?
Howrse has been allowing people to design coats for sometime, but they are limited in that they only show on the main horse it’s purchased for, and does not transfer to a foal. Thats where your dye idea is better.
I guess I’m asking if there would be a way to design a mask for a PB, and have that Mask transfer to foals of that horse as well? Then the game mask for things like socks and facial markings could be used on top of that to change it from foal to foal.
Looking forward to the birth of your new masterpiece, though I don’t know if you could ever top the original! 🙂
Bindi
September 11, 2014 at 11:58 pm
Hey there- we have been discussing playcash for real money sales, I like your idea in implementing a limit on it. About masks and designing coats- You will be able to send us in photo or sketch/art of coat design for a PB or just for the color- starting in just over a week, will be available on our kickstarter campaign (when that launches). They will be pricey- and they will be limited in how many we sell.
Thanks for the great comments!
September 11, 2014 at 11:54 pm
P.S. The horse are coming along! Will the Stock breeds carry their heads a little lower and not so high? Will the stock breeds be more bulky then the lighter breeds? Just curious 😉
September 12, 2014 at 12:06 am
Yeah, that high head bothering me too- not just stock horses. We will be working on animations.
September 12, 2014 at 12:02 am
I’m so excited! Ahh! What would be awesome is that we could groom them and customize our avatars. Also to actually have the avatars post when they are trotting,. That would be amazing. Best game ever. I. Am. So. Excited.
September 12, 2014 at 12:05 am
YES- be sure to help us reach that goal, soon on our Kickstarter in a week or so- thanks!
September 12, 2014 at 1:02 am
So when will the game be available? I’m excited I’ve played many games buy none I’ve stuck with they get boring and there isn’t a variety of things to do AT ALL. I love the whole genetics being passed down to foals…I really can’t wait 🙂
September 12, 2014 at 1:11 am
…….. >.>. <.<
I don't know how you guys found me or knew I loved horses but….touche'. Well, played sneaky marketing peeps, well played indeed.
September 12, 2014 at 1:26 am
You must have signed up for VHR! 🙂
September 12, 2014 at 3:20 am
Good work, I would perfect ionize the grafics, to be more realistic.
September 12, 2014 at 5:44 am
Yes!!!! There are a lack of horsey games designed for tablets etc:) and this sounds like it’ll be really awesome. A suggestion: don’t know if you’ve already thought of this, but I imagine the game will take internet to play. It would be neat to have some parts of it, even something like mini games, that you can play offline too:) good luck!
September 12, 2014 at 10:27 am
The horses look really great! Just wondering, will there be any options to customise mane and tail length/styles? That would be awesome! Tack would also be wonderful.
September 12, 2014 at 3:46 pm
I would like this option too, and looking in to how possible it is and how much it would cost. I just want to see a long haired Friesian and a nice pulled mane for a TB for example, you know?
September 12, 2014 at 6:42 pm
What is your email because you invited me to the development discussion but i can’t answer even though I want to say yes!
September 12, 2014 at 6:51 pm
[email protected] – it was in the email! We are starting the development discussion here! I will have specific polls/ask for opinions through out the process. Thanks!
September 13, 2014 at 3:49 pm
Make sure you have Norwegian Fjord’s. Their my favorite. How about also having miniature horses?
September 13, 2014 at 4:41 pm
Yes Fjords – will make sure of it now, and yes- will have miniature horses!
September 13, 2014 at 3:55 pm
how about having golden polo raps and golden tail raps
September 13, 2014 at 4:43 pm
Equipment such as this might not be available at launch, but would love to do it!
September 13, 2014 at 9:09 pm
A few questions came to mind..
1. Will there be a limit on how many horses you can own?
2. Will aging work the same way as on VHR? (As in taking “turns” instead of automatic aging like in a lot of games, as well as having the option to keep horses in the stable/pasture).
3. Will a breed’s stats be the same as its VHR counterpart?
4. For anyone who owns a PB in VHR, will there be a way for them to transfer the ownership of that breed to VHR3D? Or would they have to purchase it all over again?
September 13, 2014 at 10:01 pm
This is all subject to change! but what we have in mind is:
1. Free to play- very limited. The limit will be quite high (at least 100 pasture slots) with a subscription, or you could pay to unlock a lot more “slots” in stable or barn for ever. It will be a lot cheaper during our Kickstarter campaign coming soon.
2. This is in discussion. For pasture/stored horses- they will not age. Otherwise, I would like to open up a discussion about this soon.
3. Adding a few new stats (movement will be dynamic like str/speed/intel/end), + agility- and discussing some more, improving the genetic algorithm also. The numbers will not be like the same. The breeds will probably be more like when VHR first started- with horses with fair stats etc..
4. Not as of now- just too many breeds. They also require more detail (such as model blending- is it drafty or sporty or blend?). We will contact you in the event someone wants to purchase your PB from vhr- I want to be fair about that. PBs in VHR3D will be very pricey and limited, but include a custom “texture” and morphed model of your choice.
Good questions- thank you!
September 14, 2014 at 12:46 am
Are the horse colors/ foal markings from random generation? Or will there be preset markings?
September 14, 2014 at 1:54 am
One of our stretch goals as briefly mentioned in article is to have a little random generation based on parents. For example, bay with four white socks and solid chestnut might produce chestnut with some white socks.
-edit: We will try to have a wide variety either way, so foal might be a different chestnut than it’s parents for example.
September 14, 2014 at 4:52 am
When does it come out? Is it free?
September 14, 2014 at 6:41 am
Will there be a miniature horse breed true to type (not pony looking). That you could a show in mini horse classes (trail, jumping, harness etc..)?
September 14, 2014 at 5:21 pm
I’m not sure yet if we will have special miniature horse events, but you could show them in halter 🙂
September 14, 2014 at 3:21 pm
Few questions:
1. What is this kickstarter thing, how does it work and when it happens?
2. Is there some sort of subscribtion system, i mean do you have to pay real money to access more things in this game?
3. Can you mix breeds in game?
4. I would like to give some suggestions of what i’d want this game to have. Is there a chance for that?
These are questions you dont have to answer, but i was just curious.
PS: Great work on the game so far 😉
September 14, 2014 at 5:31 pm
Hi there – good questions, a lot of which I have not seen before- so I will answer!
1) Later next week or the following week we will begin a kickstarter campaign. Kickstarter is a crowed sourcing website where you can pledge money and get rewards to help a project happen. If the project fails, you don’t pay anything. Here is the the link to What is kickstarter from their site- https://www.kickstarter.com/hello?ref=footer
2) Yes there likely will be- but you don’t have to pay to play- there will be free options. Unfortunately these games cost a lot of money to develop and maintain.
3) Yes- the result of which will be in discussion.
4) So far, we will to invite early responders such as yourself and all Kickstarter supporters to engage in development discussions. We want to know what you want, so we will be asking!

Now i’m even more into this game! Thanks for answers! 😀
September 16, 2014 at 5:17 am
Hiya! I’m really annoyed by some other horse games, because when you brush your horse in them, usually all the dirt goes off. I mean, when you brush your horse’s head the dirt goes slowly away from its legs etc. BUT in one game, i loved that when the dirt goes off exactly where the brush is. So i would be very happy if this game has this thing in it too :333 luv ur game o3o
September 16, 2014 at 7:56 am
Also, if you can make the brush go along the horse’s curves it would be amazing!! Luv ur game o3o
September 16, 2014 at 3:41 pm
Thank you for your comments, we will never say never, but right now brushing mini-games is not our focus. I don’t want people to be caught up with brushing mini games all day if say they have a lot of horses. But, we may make this an option in the future! Especially if there is a lot of interest in it.

Are the horses going to be more Distinguishable between horse breeds? I had to ask, I play a whole bunch of horse games and what annoys me is that the horses sorta look right but the details are never right. The mane is just a block of animated mass, I would love to see hair that moves in individual strands, if that’s not too much. So far virtual horse has been amazing about that.
September 17, 2014 at 4:57 am
Working to make it for us horse nerds, those details are important. We will be spending some time on the mane especially- and making them different lengths appropriate for their breed (or allow that as an option- example- pulled or long?) We are able to do some cool stuff with blending to make many unique horses essentially, and of course- like their breed.
September 18, 2014 at 4:51 pm
this game sounds amazing and i dont think i found another game like this its so exciting i hope this all looks as good as it sounds
September 18, 2014 at 4:54 pm
sorry left something out can we mix the breeds to make a good one like example Arabian with thoroughbred to get endurance, speed and stamina? oh and thanks for the good details in game goodluck
September 18, 2014 at 5:36 pm
Somewhat- the stats will be stunted or improved a bit by resulting base breed, and also by the low values of the parents. For example- if you were to mix a Shire and an Arabian, the Shire’s low endurance and low speed will bring down the Arab’s, and vise versa. However the foal will have better endy and speed than the parent Shire.
September 18, 2014 at 4:58 pm
sorry being a pain but will the horses “have their own mind” like misbehaviour, bucking and rearing so we can train it out of them that would be awesome and i promise this is the last pinky promise lolz 😉
September 18, 2014 at 5:39 pm
Not being a pain! This blog is for discussion! The behavior might evolve in to something like this, especially if we get tons of animations. We could do a lot of fun things here, what about a lazy horse too?
September 19, 2014 at 4:11 pm
Hi. I like this new website plan. I love that your asking for everyone’s opinions and what we fancy playing. My only request is that you make the horses look more realistic than the images above!
September 20, 2014 at 8:12 am
Wow I cant wait sounds amazing!! Can you compete your hoses ????
September 20, 2014 at 4:27 pm
Yes, in the start we will have simulated events. Then later on we will be adding mini-games to compete in events.
September 20, 2014 at 8:55 pm
This is so awesome! I can’t wait to try it out 🙂
September 21, 2014 at 2:20 pm
Btw, the horses’ manes and tails are too short and thin….. in my opinion ofc 😀
September 21, 2014 at 4:43 pm
Don’t worry, We will have different variations of the manes. In many (most?) English riding disciplines, and racing, it is often traditional for the main to be short & thin .
September 24, 2014 at 10:59 pm
This looks awesome cant wait to try it!! I was wondering thou if you could add weather to it like make it rain and make it windy and stuff??
September 24, 2014 at 11:18 pm
Our marsh environment has fog! Will look in to rain!
September 28, 2014 at 9:42 am
YEAH WEATHER EFFECTS! Sounds amazing!
September 28, 2014 at 8:09 pm
About what time will the game be available to play
September 28, 2014 at 9:31 pm
We are hoping to be officially out (after beta etc.. ) around March.
September 29, 2014 at 8:43 pm
What an amazing and exciting project! I look forward to being a small part of your wonderful community!
September 29, 2014 at 8:53 pm
Will the game be a free game or will you need to purchase it
September 29, 2014 at 8:56 pm
You won’t have to pay but things like how many horses you can have will be restricted. We have an unlimited time free-to-play option like in VHR.
September 29, 2014 at 9:06 pm
Hey Nef…
Was wondering when the Kickstart program was going to start, and if you already have a project name with them? Where would we find you at? Will there be tiers in donations? Will there be any current sponsor subscribers that may be invited to play in the Beta version? I would like to volunteer! 😉
You mentioned a chance to purchase a PB for the game…., will that info be available soon?
More info on current developments appreciated! I am waiting with enthusiasm, and interest!
September 29, 2014 at 9:30 pm
Hey there and thank you! We hope to launch the Kickstarter campaign this week. Getting an awesome video and other stuff together is taking some time. Yep there will rewards for tiers in donations, with all sorts of fun stuff including early access alpha & beta testing. The private breeds/custom colors are one of the limited rewards as well.
Everything is almost all set up to go- our video should be worth the delay. We want to do things right! I appreciate your interest and can’t wait to launch the campaign. I have been holding off posting updates, hoping that the next one is the Kickstarter announcement.
September 30, 2014 at 10:51 pm
AWESOME! Looking forward to the info and video, Nef!
October 3, 2014 at 4:22 pm
Bindi can you confirm that you are getting my emails from [email protected]? Thanks!
October 1, 2014 at 9:52 am
how do i play this game and get into Events
October 1, 2014 at 3:38 pm
The Game is currently under development and will not be ready to play until early 2015 🙂
October 2, 2014 at 3:29 am
This looks like an awesome game in development. I’m a pretty hardcore Xbox gamer and also play MMO’s on World of Warcraft. I currently play a horse game called Star Stable. It’s a fun, light-hearted MMO, but as a 26 year old gamer, the pink stars and girly outfits get old pretty quick. Could you possibly expand on some key differences between your VHR game and Star Stable, including business model comparisons (free-to-play, subscription based, in-game currency, etc.). Graphically speaking, I would LOVE to see a slightly more realstic and mature horse game in the industry, sans iconic little girl staples like pink bows and sparkles.
October 2, 2014 at 5:08 am
This is just what we are aiming for- low on the pink stars and more realism 🙂 I will be expanding on the subscriptions etc.. quite soon. It will be very different from Star Stable. Still hashing out some details on subscriptions and all that- some more details will be revealed in our KickStarter campaign launching very soon (with in a week). I can tell you that our game is more focused on developing your horses with breeding & competitions and such.
October 3, 2014 at 2:34 am
Awesome, awesome, awesome! I can’t wait! I’ll definitely be joining in the Kickstarter 🙂
October 2, 2014 at 10:58 pm
Is the kickstarter announcement be on vhr forums? Or on a different website?
October 2, 2014 at 11:01 pm
It will be everywhere – you won’t miss it 🙂
October 4, 2014 at 1:57 pm
I was wondering if there was a way to play the original Virtual Horse Ranch 2 to see if I like the game? Went to the website, but for some reason it doesn’t work.
October 4, 2014 at 6:25 pm
For the old VHR2 demo game – the server is not up, and there is no stand alone client to be able to play it. I wouldn’t have considered it a good example to see if you like this game anyhow, since we are putting a lot more resources, better technology, and better game play in to VHR3D. If you enjoy the concepts or idea of Virtual Horse Ranch + being able to see & interact with your horses + 100x improved intuitive user interface- then this is the game for you!
October 5, 2014 at 5:05 am
I have a couple of questions.
First of all, do you know how well this game will run on slower systems? What kind of specs are you looking at for this to be running ideally? Will there be an option to turn graphics quality up or down to accommodate older models of computers or older operating systems? What kind of internet connection would you recommend to be able to play?
Secondly, and I know you’ve gotten a lot of questions about this before, is the text-based VHR going to be kept? Are we going to be able to continue playing? I don’t know if I can play the 3D game because I do have an older computer and it has problems with games that have a lot of graphics going on at once, and I have established myself on the original game. I’d hate to think that I’d be losing all of the time and money I’ve invested there.
October 5, 2014 at 7:42 am
Great questions. We are trying to optimize it to work on just about any machine. Since it doesn’t require a client download, and also optimized to run on tablets- it should be OK for just about any machine. We can certainly also add in graphic setting options if need be. I will say our initial development client was running good on an old machine with a built-in generic graphic card- until we tried “Frapping” (screen recording), then it got a bit choppy. As far as internet connection- it should work on something such as dial ups since it is only small packet exchanges. With an older machine and slow connection, it may take a bit longer to “load up” the game and new zones when venturing outside your ranch. The game doesn’t require a download on Desktops/laptops (but will needed to be installed as an app on tablets), however we may make a stand alone client an option at some point. We just don’t know exactly how performance will work yet on old machines until we come closer to a finished product and test maximum stabled (viewable) horses and everything. We will release recommended specs at a later date.
YES, VHR will remain and will be a separate game. No one will be forced to play the new game, and VHR will be maintained.
Thank you for your interest and good questions!
Also- edit. Since we plan on releasing for tablets- we are really working on efficiency and that should lower requirements a LOT.
November 9, 2014 at 7:40 pm
So this game the one we are playing now will be a separate game? just as it is? no 3d horses?
November 9, 2014 at 8:10 pm
This game will be a separate game. No one will have to play it instead 🙂 If anything- it has already shown to be true, the added publicity of VHR3D is bringing extra attention to VHR. http://vhr3d.orbisgames.com/?page_id=39 Do you want me to approve your other comment? 🙂
November 20, 2014 at 1:57 am

March 18, 2016 at 2:51 am
We are doing alpha testing now and working on it as best as we can- we will have a public beta test probably with in a month, thank you!
April 12, 2016 at 2:21 pm
OK…. almost a month gone by. How is this launch going? Any closer to a date? I cant seem to find anything on it.
April 12, 2016 at 7:21 pm
I imagine another month or so before public Beta, then official launch a month or two after that if all goes well. It has taken a while as we can’t afford to work on it full time yet 😉
July 27, 2017 at 5:37 pm
Hi! So I just found out about this game today (thanks to your YouTube video! I was looking at new horse games) and after watching the video I immediately fell in love with what I saw! I am a teen and I am obsessed with horses and I can’t towaito download your game on my iPad! I just have one question, do you have a release date yet for the app? Please answer when you can!
Thanks so much!
